Many national alarm companies like ADT, Safetouch Guardian etc alarm systems for free or $100.00 . Lot's of slick marketing talk and prmises.
The truth is these systems are generally limited in their protection coverage and leased to the consumer at a high monthly cost over a contract term. The goal of these companies is to increase profit far out of balance to providing adequate protection. In order to maximize that profit the smallest amount of protection sold leads to a fast installation and more systems installed per day and more monitoring revenue per month. Good for them bad for the home owner.
The alarm system pictured here represents a very common wireless alarm system completely enclosed in one unit. The power source, siren, phone connection, backup power battery and keypad is all enclosed in one place. Installation is extremely fast, the technician installs two or three door sensors and a motion detector and is out the door in no time. Even the most ignorant burglar will generally try disable an alarm system by pulling the keypad off the wall. With this system if that occurs the entire system can be 100% disabled if pulled off the wall and smashed on the ground. When the power is out, and phone and power are quickly disconnected there is no siren and no police dispatch. A proper alarm system has the main panel in a secured locked cabinet away from the alarm keypad, and an exterior and interior siren. It takes more time, more effort and more money to properly secure a home worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. There is now a smash and crash technology added to these panels to avoid this from happening. They had to add programming to the system to accomodate for such a poor desingn.
Does a free or $99.00 security system make sense to secure an average home worth $150,000.00 or more? Three door sensors and a motion? What about windows? What about protection at night when the motion detector is turned off so you can move around the house? Add an extra sensor and it costs as much as the whole system? Why because they want to get our the door and on to the next system ot have the monthly income. Nothing is free you will pay it monthly.
If you are in the Tampa Bay area you have a better choice. Cross Security. Lower long term costs with great monitoring rates and better protection representing a great Value. 727-442-0060.
